It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
