What s Holding Back The Item Upgrade Industry
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the item level upgrade being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item level upgrade upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via several methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if the items are from a different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut also, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrades upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
