1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer better cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robot auto vacuum and mop/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they are.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd think from its price. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
