World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before a component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment using fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it is likely that the item will be obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and some upgrades that offer an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs increase the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.

In the final game, you will often find that the best way to improve your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes faster.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for example, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each item level requires a different number of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item level upgrade gets advanced in level.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When a player upgrade an item, the base item will be replaced by a new item. The same armor can be transformed into the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can make the item more expensive if you don't require it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be beneficial, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item level upgrade is extremely important in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of the non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to boost the level of their available equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and weapon upgrades items increase the damage they deal as well as the required strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can be upgraded up to eight times. Every when you upgrade an item, it is given a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the farther you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The Item upgrader mod also loses any bonuses it earned like the chance to crit attack damage, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance, the increase will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is computed each time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment will require different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses mentioned above.
