Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet messes (spills, staining) in one session without having to swap out devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you running with a clean, complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and is a great vacuum cleaner too. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly app that lets you select the exact kind of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.

You can, for example, ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models can't. The only drawback is that the robot tends to hit walls and objects at full speed. However looking at the cleaning history on the app will show you exactly what the robot has completed, where it's going, and which obstacles he has run into or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance jobs are required including emptying the debris tray, and cleaning the dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the tank automatically with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time, with the mop capable of operating for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode, while the vacuum is can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive that lets you view all the details of the cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's flagship robot vacuum and mop is the most up-to-date version. The model of this year features two agitators built into its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to pick up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners may miss.

The Roborock model, like the other two models I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it get around obstacles like walls, furniture, and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they're a wall or another type of surface. It can then change its course automatically and clean around the objects without missing a step.

This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, however, it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek, angular style is striking and only has three physical buttons that include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin automatically refills.

The only downside I've discovered with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth if needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've found any plush carpet that the robot vacuum cleaner reviews touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on mounts, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these via the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You'll have to go through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how efficient it is otherwise.
