The Best Robot Hoover

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum reviews vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.
If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
