A Proficient Rant Concerning Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.
The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of its leveled up perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is because of how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
The level of an item is a commonly used measurement of power and is visible on all tooltips for items. It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to a lower level). The average Item Upgrader Mod level can be found in the character sheet.
Using the item upgrade level will allow players to compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a measure of the damage and its quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.
The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are various theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated by a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats really are. It takes into consideration that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the item. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's actual item level.
However, this isn't the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl since the level of the area the item upgrade was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.
Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item upgrading.
Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.
Players can choose to upgrade an item by a specific stat, or reroll attaches. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an item that is unique or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, this will have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of those properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run than later ones since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each item level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Additionally, certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shops or made with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it fails.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..
The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader mod Upgrader CORE client config.
