Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency with which you have to manually vacuum. Look for one that offers an easy navigation, can clean corners and stairs and also has a large dust bin that has to be emptied only every few times.

You can also find models that mop and charge on their own This feature could be essential for those who have pets or kids. A majority of the top performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a good choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart robot maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues traversing transitions across surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is low it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it began. Battery life is about an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or via the app.

In our tests the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and lowers recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It can quickly change from handheld to best floor vacuum robot vacuum, and vice versa.

The model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also offers the ability to connect two attachments as well as the Wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons models, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a typical and not a remarkable run time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's still enough time to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to cover every spot (though an additional run-through often can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum cleaners vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to give an efficient clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our Top Rated Robot Vacuum picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer parts that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications, docking frequency settings and much more. The app is simple to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well with larger objects, like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tested which could be a deterrent for some buyers.

The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you to monitor your children or pets while you are away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties, which helps keep the robot broom's dustbin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for hard flooring. The robots come with an extra-wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2X larger than the competition. This lets them keep the area clean for longer. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell if it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that lets users to see the virtual map, manage functions, and set schedules. Additionally, you can track the battery's status and return it to its dock to charge by pressing a button. The app lets you customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it's stuck.

The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as an incline. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
