1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot automatic vacuum and mop/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes, this mop and Robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum mop cleaner robot is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a lot furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd think from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
