1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuums best that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
