WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an Item level upgrade by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item level upgrade that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will display an image of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade item coupon and a possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via several methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade item path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade items process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
