The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin after it has filled up.

Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and are able to move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we tested. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including putting away any clutter or toys it might encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin, which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
