Path of Exile Best item upgrade Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they're attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items that have upgrade components inside them, using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The amount of damage that an armored item or weapon will absorb is contingent on the degree of upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it should be heavier.

There are several types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item upgrader kit; index, will receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade as illustrated in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Certain upgrades require charges in order to be used. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either constantly updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more costly, but can be found at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.

Upgrading a piece of armor to the highest upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense capabilities, but the player should be aware that putting on weight will drastically reduce its speed and agility. This is why it is generally not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces beyond +9, since the defensive boost gained is generally not worth the extra weight and power costs of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. For example an upgrade could increase the damage dealt by shotgun shells or the accuracy of the sniper rifle. Certain firearms also have enhancements that enhance their intrinsic capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades to weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.

Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price that is based on a specific number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the higher the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. In the past you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to a higher quality. You could do this until you reached the max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, following which upgrades would reset.

You can still do this however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. You should consider buying equipment with minimal upgrade item levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a better chance of giving you the highest level of benefits and blessings.

Most players will want to prioritize upgrades to the weapons they most often use to allow them to progress quicker. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons favored by their squadmates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents on a table. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or by salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it can provide different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All levels of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a certain level to be able to get these. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with a identical jewel without destroying it. However you can only swap out one jewel in an item of equipment only once.

It is typical to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create an area that is stronger than metal, so repeated friction from pivots won't cause harm as easily.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your shields and weapons. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be freely traded, but they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets can be used to give your character various small, but useful advantages. They are available in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available through vendors and after the completion of road interactions. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak, which grants a small, but valuable boost to speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar fashion as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be used in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active when the hero is not in combat. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps to compensate for the absence of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with hero's ideal statistics.

As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade in Slot) items you won't replace soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable statistics that aren't as important as the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, since it's generally more beneficial to upgrade one crucial stat than two subpar ones.

In the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red in the middle and top players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will discover other trinkets in form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, for instance the main quest of a chapter or killing a certain boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
