Origins

The state collected taxes from these people, and sometimes required them to join the army or build fortifications.

By the end of this period the state of Baekje was established by Onjo who was a prince of Goguryeo and the son of Jumong who was the founder of Goguryeo. The new kingdom expanded its territory to the southwest of the peninsula and fought with Goguryeo and China's commanderies in the area. Baekje adopted Confucian ideas into its state beliefs system in 1390 CE, and introduced the male-centric concept of filiopiety a tenet. In the name of filiopiety fathers were responsible for their families and had to be respected and obeyed by everyone, even their grandchildren and children.

Goryeo, a country that was ruled from 918 to 1392 CE and gave the world the Hangul Alphabet based on the shapes created by the mouth when it pronounces. This dramatically improved communication between people, and led to an explosion in the writing of Buddhist texts. Evolution in Korea

The Korean peninsula was inhabited from Neolithic times onwards. As Korea enters the post-crisis period its development model appears to be in flux. The people who are awed by the cost of the old systems advocate a comprehensive program of liberalization of capital, labor and product markets. The academic and policy analysts remain in a tense debate about the extent to which these two trends are driving Koreas development towards a new model of economic governance. This article examines the five phases of Korea's evolution in terms of its political development: democratic democracies that are not liberal (1945-60) democratic autoritarianism (1961-72) authoritarian exceptionalism (1972-1877), democratic paternalism (2001-2002) and participatory democracy (2002). This article also highlights significant factors that may be shaping these processes.

Creationism in Korea

In South Korea, 26 percent of the population is Christian. Creationists have made progress in promoting their beliefs to this group. A survey conducted in 2009 revealed that nearly one-third of respondents didn't believe in evolution. Of those, 41% claimed that there wasn't enough scientific evidence to support evolution; 39% said the theory did not align with their beliefs and 17% claimed it was difficult to grasp. This level of disbelief is similar to that of the United States where a similar percentage do not believe humans evolved from lesser advanced forms of life.

In the past, the majority of the anti-evolution movement in Korea was focused on teaching college students and leading them to Christ. An increase in interest in creation science came in the year 1980, when there was the inauguration of a four-day seminar during the World Evangelization Crusade in Seoul that included Drs. Henry Morris and Duane Giss of ICR were the featured speakers. The event was attended by a large number of professors, church leaders, and scientists.

The success of the event led to the creation of the Korea Association of Creation Research on January 31st, 1980. The inauguration meeting was widely covered in the national press, including The Korea Times and Chosun Ilbo, and it received wide attention.

KACR began publishing a newsletter titled CREATION. In it, the organization reported on its own activities and published articles on the scientific evidence for the existence of God. It also translated film strips and slides from ICR and also some books on creationism that were already published outside of Korea. KACR members lectured throughout the nation in universities and churches.

In the latter half of the nineteenth century and the early 20th century, Korea began to adopt a more Westernized style of life.
