Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst for Good Housekeeping's Home Care and Cleaning Lab.
He conducts tests and reviews of cleaning appliances. His focus is on robot vacuums, and mopping combinations. These multitaskers are an excellent choice for those who want to take mopping off their to-do list. Some of them have excellent mapping and obstacle avoidance. Some wash and refill mopping pads themselves to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model to choose if you want a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It is smaller than other models, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces or under furniture. It uses a 220 degree lidar which, when paired with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the most effective navigation and object avoidance that I've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It's got a battery of 4600mAh that can last up to 170 minutes if mopping and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer when it is set to turbo). It will even return to its dock to replenish its battery mid-clean.
It's efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room, and hallways with just one pass. Its 8,000pa motor is able to pick up dirt as well as pet hair and poop easily. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the two side brushes help draw out dirt from corners.
The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, is not as effective. The rotating mop spins at a high velocity and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scrubbing up dirt and staining. I've noticed that the front arms protrude out slightly more than other robots, which is useful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. The front arms can also be used to collect larger objects like books and broken toys.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've tried. It doesn't produce as loud of a sound while vacuuming or mopping and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for its mopping function and is separate from the vacuum. It's easy to install and is effective, but it's something you'll need to keep an eye on when you purchase this vacuum for the sole purpose of it mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It has a robust suite of features that make it an ideal choice for homeowners looking to purchase a highly effective, versatile and ad-hoc cleaning machine.
The device comes with a powerful cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensor technology with an RGB camera. This enables it to map out the house and also identify furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean efficiently and methodically. This leads to an efficient, consistent clean that's also fairly fast.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad can reach many surfaces. This includes corners or baseboards, as well as other hard-to-reach spots. The side brush can be stretched to reach the floor close to walls and other fixtures. In addition the mop pads can be washed and dried to prevent the build-up of dust and reduce the smell.
App-based customization is another notable feature. The Q Revo lets you adjust the intensity of its suction and select between a back-andforth or more randomized pattern. You can also set the number of passes it will make, which will affect how quickly the device can move around your home. You can also deactivate the side brush in order to prevent damage to carpets and rug.
The device has a high price tag but has a variety of smart features. It is important to remember, however, that the device is subject to periodic costs in the form of mopping supplies as well as regular maintenance. For instance the brushroll needs to be replaced after 300 hours or every six to 12 months. The filter is to be cleaned every 150 hours, and the mop pads must be changed every three months.
This robot vacuum mop is a top Amazon rating and comes with a wide range of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also has an power button that doubles as a 'Clean button' as well as a 'Home' button to send it home after cleaning. It also comes with a multi-functional dock that automatically empty the trash bin, fills up its water tank, and cleans and drys its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a professional with a lot of work or someone who wants an organized home that doesn't require much time doing chores then the Shark Matrix Plus is a solid choice. It has powerful performance, intelligent navigation, and a long battery life that makes it easy to keep your home clean with little effort.
The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is an all-in-one mop and vacuum. It is capable of vacuuming as well as mopping. The robot mop is divided into two modules that include a dry bin as well as a water tank that can be easily snapped in and out and a mopping module that is equipped with microfiber pads. Separate modules for vacuuming and mopping might seem a bit outdated however, they mean that you don't need to worry about changing bags for disposables or refilling the tank with water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at both vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best feature was its accurate floorplan that it uses to create the path to follow when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also gives you the option of setting 'No-Go zones' and virtual barriers, which help to protect specific areas of your home from being scrubbed with mop.
We also discovered that the Matrix Plus did surprisingly well at picking up hair of pets. It was able capture a lot of the hair that shed by our cats, and even made it into the nooks and crannies on our stairs, where other robots have struggled. Its noise levels were fairly low, and there were some lovely jingles that signal that it was starting and working towards its goal.
The app was too simple and you had to alter the modules each time you changed between mops and vacuuming. The app doesn't have the capacity to hold multiple maps, which could be a problem when you live in a house with a mix of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good choice for people who want an intelligent robot that is capable of mopping and vacuuming.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our review, however it comes with some unique features that make it worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni is most notable for its huge dock that serves as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dust bin and the 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.
The base also has a variety of control buttons that allow you to start cleaning, recall the robot, or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents who are concerned about their kids messing around with the vacuum.
Like other robotic vacuums the X1 Omni uses its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally get caught up in an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you manually free it. Although this is not a common occurrence but it was a very frustrating experience when it did happen and especially because the X1 Omni does not have a "stuck" status alert in its application.
Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during a cleaning session. You will need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't an issue aside from the fact that mopping pads aren't washed and dried between use and can cause mildew or mold.
On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad apparatus. It's a big contrast to the basic black bases of rivals such as Roborock or iRobot. And it's an impressive sight in the market that is dominated by boxy units.
