It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum that mops mop and automatic vacuum cleaner. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
