Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, tools for gathering and weapons. They can be used to add an additional bonus or effect while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors or other players, looted, obtained as rewards, or made by crafting materials. Upgrades can have cosmetic effects, in addition to offering bonus points for attributes.
Upgrade components include inscriptions enhancements and infusions. They aren't generally available for general use and can only be used on equipment that has been elevated, or certain non-ascended weaponry from the Factions Campaign. Infusions, inscriptions and enrichments can be recovered from equipment using an Infusion Extraction Device or salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Phoenix Boxes unlike other upgrade items are able to be traded and re-used when still attached to the item that is being upgraded. These upgrades are the most effective way to improve weapon and armor quality without spending Dilithium in the sense that they increase the likelihood of receiving an upgrade by two times.
Upgrade components can be added to an item, but the old one is destroyed (except for legendaries and upgraded equipment). Only upgraded items that have an identification level of 0 or more can include upgrade components them. If you add an upgrade to the weapon already equipped with a suffix or a prefix upgrade the item will be named in the same way as it would appear on the game screen (for instance, adding a Radiant insignia to Canthan Armor creates Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). A player can only own up to three upgrade items at a time.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a useful addition to any item, since they provide many unique advantages and boosts. Some glyphs can also increase the number of affixes on an item, increasing its overall power. These glyphs are obtained by completing dungeons. Some are even located in specific World Tier 3 zones. It is important to remember that glyphs are not available on a character who has not been able to create an area of root dungeons of the same size.
To make use of a Glyph you must first create it using components and then connect them using anchors. The component will then automatically align to other components or paths within the same layer. If you don't want to build the glyph from components, you can create it using a combination of paths and anchors. Drag an element close to the component that is highlighted to lock it in the right spot.
Certain glyphs require specific conditions to be fulfilled for example, 25 Dexterity in a particular area on the Paragon Board. Some glyphs require a specific number of Primary Stat Nodes to be activated, which could also be difficult to achieve. Some glyphs have a radius that grows with each level.
Glyphs are available for many different items, and can be added to all weapons except for the weapons of specific classes. Certain glyphs come with additional requirements, like a certain amount of Dexterity damage, or Attack damage on a specific portion of the Paragon board.
The Defend Glyph has the chance to deflect attacks from enemies. It also has an opportunity to make the Hero vulnerable for two turns.
There are a few glyphs that can be added to tools that are limited-use like the Black Lion Chest or Trading Post. Adding these glyphs will count towards the Combat Mechanic achievement.
The most common glyphs are the attack glyphs which increase the ATK substats of Artifacts by a flat value. These glyphs are especially beneficial for classes that rely on ranged weapons, such as Warriors or Rogues. The Exploit Glyph can make enemies who strike the Hero vulnerable to damaging effects.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are special tokens that can be used to reroll one of the results when taking an Action. They are discarded after the reroll has occurred. Reroll tokens are obtained in a variety of ways, such as through raids, dungeons and skirmishes. They can also be purchased at the store or purchased from other players. They are particularly useful in dungeons and trials because they allow players to roll the rewards from the end chest.
For items that are at level 1, there are recycling points. If an item is recycled it will add a certain number of points to the gauge of upgrade. This number is determined by the rarity of the item and its level. In addition the upgraded Best item upgrade will not keep its level after rerolling and the cost for recycling an upgraded item upgrader kit increases with the level of the item.
The player may also use reroll tokens to roll an item. However it won't restore the item's original stats or levels. This is a great option for those who want to reroll a piece of equipment they don't like but want to keep in their collection.
There are three different types of upgrade tokens in the game: reroll, random, and upgrade. Each type has a few subtypes. Reroll tokens, for example come in three types that are rare, legendary, and enhanced. Each requires a product of the appropriate level to create a new item with the same quality.
To make use of reroll tokens, right-click the Satanic or Angelic item in inventory and select "Reroll Token". Then, choose a type of token. The available tokens are Item, Weapons, Misc, 1hguns, 2hguns, and Focus. Utilizing an Item token will result in a new Item of any quality. Utilizing an item token or a Weapon or Misc token will create a new weapon from the same faction.
There is also the possibility that the item will be upgraded to a new item that has an increased level and the same stats. This could occur if the item has been placed in the Non-Droppable Pool, or if it was transferred to the pool as part of an franchise card.
