World of Warcraft item upgrading Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips of items. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. Players can see their average level of Best item upgrader on their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can look at the levels of the item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. Comparing items from a vendor's stock is possible using the level of the item.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its level. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats actually are. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets increase the value of the item. This can lead to an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, since the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, such as by adding an amount to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's skill.

Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to provide items with extra damage or special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by naming them.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item to specific stats or reroll affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to increase. Like the base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous for early game runs, because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability, which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can be made or spawn with the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase the luck of the item upgrading to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are displayed above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader - please click Viewtool, CORE client config.
