WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item upgrader kit being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via several methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrade (from the Badudns blog) level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
