The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models This robot autonomous vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum and mop that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas are.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot vacuums with mop which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.

It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
