It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic automatic vacuum cleaner/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or automatic vacuum and mop to score 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have number of furniture. Additionally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuums that mop vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture better. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
