Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you need to, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot cleaner robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot autonomous vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that vacuum and mop that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
