The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum cleaner robot hoover (recent post by Wristhax) can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes this robot hoover and mop vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic hoovers vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
