Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide For Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item upgrade they are attached to. Upgrades to armor are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kit to retrieve upgrade components from items.
The amount of damage an armored item or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. The absorption of damage by an armor piece will increase when it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.
There are several different types of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. For instance, certain upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can be given, as illustrated below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Additionally, some upgrades require a charge to use, and are indicated by the "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide a significant improvements in performance and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.
A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will greatly boost its defense, but the player should be aware that putting more weight on it will dramatically reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The boost in defense generally isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade item level, the more bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. In the past you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to a higher level of rarity. You could do this until you reached a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which upgrades would reset.
You can still do this but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear that has minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These will be able to give you the highest tier perks and blessings.
To level up quicker, players usually be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates utilize to increase their power. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost a stat or provide secondary effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method of making them, where you combine gemstones with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the quality of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or through collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is in when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or other gear.
All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to obtain them. Jewels can be replaced with another one without damaging the original. However, you can only replace the jewels in an item of equipment only once.
Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it feel smoother, and is often done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the appearance of your shields and weapons. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped freely, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved through an upgrade extractor, or salvaging with a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are pieces of equipment that bestow an array of tiny but valuable benefits to your hero. You can find them in the starting area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available through vendors and after completing road interaction. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.
The first trinket that a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny, but useful bonus in movement speed and the ability to evade. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar manner to the way a player can acquire armor and weapons. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient while inactive. It can also compensate for the absence of good slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by a hero's top stats.
A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat than two less important ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players however they will select a pink or green ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players may also find other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, for instance the main quest of a chapter or killing a certain boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
