Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum mop cleaner robot cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they are.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot vacuum cleaners best on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
