Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might imagine from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
