The best robot hoover Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also come with a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good robot vacuum cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The automatic vacuum cleaner cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might think from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
