Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep your floors tidy enough to decrease the frequency of manual hoovering. Pick a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, is able to clean stairs and corners, and that has a large bin that will need to be emptying every so often.

There are also models that can mop and charge on their own which can be important for people with pets or children. Many of the best floor vacuum robot performers in our tests have good ability to overcome obstacles.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of manually emptying their robot's dustbin as it gets full.

Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have test. It could be stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might encounter. You should also keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. Battery life is about an hour and a half of constant use. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line, and it comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 best automatic floor cleaner plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or via the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room, and even vacuum an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. When connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of cordless vacs that are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model is a sports car. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households however, it can also fit nicely on the table for a coffee or shelves where you can move it around like the magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes to match the task that is being completed. It can quickly change between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.

This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also gives an easy access to two attachments and a wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is an average and not a remarkable time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is enough time to sweep a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every area. (A second time generally works). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's a great choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robotic. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris and sizes in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times for an efficient clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects because it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that is seen on a variety of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the top rated robot vacuum robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it didn't do particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested and this could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you check in on your pets or children while you're away. The dustbin and filter can be washed for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that self-empties to keep the robot's dustbin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot remote vacuum

Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard flooring. The robots come with an extra wide cleaning path and dust bins that are 2X larger than the competition. This lets them keep the area clean for longer. They also include two side sweepers to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's collecting dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you browse the virtual map and control the functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the battery's status and return it to its dock to charge at the push of a button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum by using different colors so you can clearly see the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.

The app allows you to steer the robot manually, if necessary. For example, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tested. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
