A robot remote vacuum can keep your floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency of hoovering manually. Find one that has excellent navigation, is able to sweep corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only periodically.
You can also find models that clean and charge on their own, a feature that may be important for people with pets or children. The top rated robot vacuum performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it fills up.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have test. It could be stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include clearing out any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is low it goes back to its docking station, automatically emptying its trash into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or by voice.
The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy best robovac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility best amazon vacuum Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households, but it also fits nicely on the coffee table or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like a magic wand.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It can quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum and vice versa.
This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives an easy access to two attachments and a Wand. This is a big improvement over earlier Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a typical, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to clean every area (though the second time around usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's a great option for those who don't want to invest too much on a robotic. It was able to remove all kinds of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often will run out of battery before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that require regular maintenance It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.

Samsung is a well-known brand in best home vacuum cleaner electronics. It's not surprising that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and more. It's simple to comprehend and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. However, it didn't do particularly well at avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we've tested which could be a problem for certain shoppers.
The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you check in on pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be washed for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and optimizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. The robots come with an extra wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2X bigger than the competitors. This lets them clean the area for longer. They also come with two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which detects whether it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows users to see a virtual map, control functions, and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the vacuum's battery status and send it back to its dock to charge at the push of the button. The app allows you to modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum to discern where it is focusing or if it has gotten stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. My living room rug, for instance is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots. The HRV 425BL however, continued to move across the border, without notifying the high point. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
