Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a specialist or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. However, it's important note that this will also raise its weight, requiring it to weigh more than it was before.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades give armor an extra amount of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an Best item upgrade can get will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.

A few of the upgrades are also magic or a mix of technology and magic which is identified by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades require charges to use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either continuously updated or never expire based on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the environment and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more costly, but is readily available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give a significant improvements in stats and are definitely worth the cost.

The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to the max upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also reduce the speed and agility of the piece. Therefore, it is generally not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is usually not worth the weight and power cost of the improvements required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade can enhance the damage caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Certain weapons come with special upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the risk of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.

Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.

To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the more advanced the level. The cost of upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. In the past you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a certain amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher rarity. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would be reset.

This is still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment that has low upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a better likelihood of granting you highest tier advantages and benefits.

To level up quicker, players usually prioritise upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in weapons and armor. They can be made through the process of jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem and various ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or by salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The quality of a gem can be improved upon by the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

The Jeweler can craft all tiers of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones which you must be at an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. You can only replace the gem once within an item of equipment.

It is typical to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots won't cause damage as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis cannot be swapped out, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that offer many small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. You can find them in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors as well as through the completion of road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player unlocks will be the cloak, which gives a small but useful bonus to movement speed and the ability to escape. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar fashion as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with an upgrade items slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that remain active when the hero is not in combat. This lets a hero be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the absence of excellent slot in the talent tree or team which would normally be filled by the hero's Best item upgrader stats.

A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item upgrade being upgraded. This is true especially if you want to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat than two less important ones.

Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players however will pick a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets that form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, finishing the main quest for a chapter or defeating an opponent. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
