1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas tend to be.

Also a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.

The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
