The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item upgrades in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Typically, items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from missions and chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, are able to be used in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding an Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from the previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item can only be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of these items, instead of dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This will allow the item level upgrade to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it is reset to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For example, a rare or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes for it, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower success rate.
To determine the height of a structure, engineers will employ an instrument to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This process is called a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to a high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial element of the game, and it can boost an item's damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done via the menu for items or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in the rarest of circumstances.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to acquire tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item level upgrade. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you could get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be a great or a bad thing, depending on your needs and expectations from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade an item level upgrade, the higher your chance of getting an exclusive bonus.
The game also includes a number of sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an Best item upgrade. This is a good method to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They can be different dimensions, have no elements, or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others are not. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you own lots of armor or weapons already.
Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own unique functions which can be useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to the level of the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and improve their performance when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, armor and weapons have higher value when fully updated. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant increase in their power. It will also boost the defense of armor with a newer appearance.
