Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide In Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They improve the stats of the item upgrade that they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Additionally, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components inside them, with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The amount of damage an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to the highest upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. However, it's important to note that this will also increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than it was before.
There are a variety of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different effect. Certain upgrades give armor an extra number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade the item upgrader mod can be given, as illustrated below.
Some of the upgrades are also magic or a hybrid of magic and technology, which is identified by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees in order to be used. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either continuously updated or never expire based on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest option to improve your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive but it can be obtained through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.
The player should be aware that upgrading a piece to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it will also affect its agility and speed. This is why it is typically not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces beyond +9, since the added defense is usually not worth the weight and power cost of the improvements required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade can enhance the damage caused by shotgun shells or the accuracy of the sniper rifle. Certain firearms have upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.
To upgrade items the weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would be reset.
It's still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off going to stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These items have a better chance of giving you the highest tier benefits and blessings.
Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they most often use to make sure they are able to level up quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates utilize to increase their power. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects on weapons and armor. They can be created through a process called jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem and several ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the quality of the jewel the better the secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is in when it is inserted into weapons, jewelry, or other gear.
All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a sufficient level to obtain the privilege of having them. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out with another jewel of the same kind without destroying it. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in an equipment piece only once.
It is common to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than metal, so repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades additionally, players can acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis can't be swapped, and can only be found through an upgrade extractor, or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that bestow an array of small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. They are available in the starter area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained through vendors and after the completion of road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased from the Trading Post.
The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives a small, but valuable boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. After that, they'll be able to acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same fashion to how the player obtains armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be used in any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and only works with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This lets a hero become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also make up for the lack of a good slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by the hero's best stats.
A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.
At the beginning of the game junglers will usually want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players will usually opt for the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets in the form trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, such as finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. These can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
