The 10 Scariest Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile item upgrading (moved here)
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Items with weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into a stronger base. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or effect when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or gotten from missions and chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For example adding a Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before being "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however the materials required do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item level upgrade at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the choice to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a new set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of material but will have lower chances of success.
To determine the height of a building engineers use a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point, like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod before turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to an extremely high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. It is possible to do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to acquire tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This can be either good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are offered in addition to the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater your chance of getting an exclusive bonus.
The game also includes several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can help you create a more powerful character faster, allowing you to advance in the game and attain higher levels.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They can have various sizes, have no elements at all or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not boost the stats of the item when compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already huge.
Certain set items are upgraded to meet their own unique functions, which can be particularly useful in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to the level of the different tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and improve their performance in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements for specific items.
Generally speaking, weapons and jewelry offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Especially for weapons that have spell/weapon damage glyphs and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant increase in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
