The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic cleaner and mop hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.

It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop (like it) cleaners we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
