The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm is perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes, this robot automatic vacuum and mop and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum mop cleaner robot cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
