It's also extremely quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum that mops we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job.
