Increases the effectiveness of
With an upgrader for your item you will be able to enjoy a number of bonuses. These could include stats as well as extra bonuses. These bonuses can be applied to weapons or armor, as well trinkets. They can be used to boost the abilities of an individual, or they can be used to add an element of variety to a build.
The upgrade system in World of Warcraft allows players to upgrade the quality of their gear by spending money at an upgrader for items NPC. This system was first introduced in Mists of Pandaria, and continued with Warlords of Draenor. It's a convenient method to increase the quality of your equipment, letting you to skip the grind and avoid a bunch wipes in Mythic+ Dungeons.
When an item is upgraded the type of item it is going to change. Upgrading a normal item creates an Exceptional item while upgrading an Exceptional item will create an Elite version of the base item level upgrade. The item will be able to keep all of its prior upgrade statistics, but will also gain an additional benefit from its new base type. This bonus will be randomly chosen from the following options: an opportunity to acquire weapons with a higher damage range, a chance to obtain an increased reload speed or a chance to acquire a higher max defense roll.
The amount of extras that you gain with an upgrade depends on the number of upgrades done. Each upgrade boosts the extras in question by an increment of 1, up to a maximum of 3. Each upgrade will also boost the stats of the main game by +1.
Some upgrades also provide a secondary random boost in addition to stat boosts. These boosts can be quite valuable and should be considered when deciding what items to upgrade. Some of these boosts are useful in specific builds (such Whistan's shield, for FB sorcs) while others can bring an enormous amount of value to specific collectors.
Certain items come with inherent boo that is less effective when upgraded, for example the Goldwrap which provides more slots for potion. These are usually upgraded to add value to a perfect or near-perfect item.
Costs
There are a few costs associated with item upgrades. The first cost is the upgrade itself. This price is contingent on the new ilvl of the item and the number of perks it receives, and can be expensive. It can also be costly to upgrade an item to a higher tier (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).
The second is the cost of the materials required for an upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21+) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable through completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). These items can be found in the inventory of an Upgrade Vendor.
It takes time to upgrade an item. It could take as long as 8 hours, depending on the magnitude of the upgrade. The base stats of the upgraded item are calculated based on the new ilvl and other characteristics. This calculation determines the latest Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other crucial statistics. In some cases the upgrade will provide additional perks that can be selected from a list of available benefits.
In rare instances, the upgrade item will only replace the highest-costing perks. The upgrader may also make other adjustments to the item, like changing its weapon damage type, or adding or eliminating an operational or unwieldy option. The cost for these modifications is based on the new ilvl of the item, and may require a special substance, such as an adamantine alloy.
Success Rate
Item upgrades are based on the chance of success, and as with any random system there is an opportunity that the upgrade will fail. There are a few ways to increase the chances of success. This includes using an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of additional materials to your upgrade.
The Upgrade Pity can be bought through the NPC for crafting in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of an upgrade succeeding by some percentage. It's similar to the "luck bonus" that some items provide, but it is more secure. It can be added to any weapons or armor and is used three times.
It is also possible to add a range of additional materials to the upgrade, increasing its chances of success. The materials are displayed in a window above the + button. However, there are some limitations to this, and the highest amount of material that can be added is displayed just above the + button in the user interface.
Another way to increase the chances of an upgrade succeeding is to use an item known as the Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is helpful if you have an item or weapon equipment that is at the maximum level for its tier or is close to it. It allows you to upgrade that piece of gear to the next level without having to worry about breaking.
If an upgrade is unsuccessful it will be restored to its original condition. This is usually a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. Keep an upgrade in reserve until you're close to the highest level for an item.
There are many items in the Kafra shop that can be used to boost the odds of a successful upgrade. For instance upgrading an equipment using HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will give you an increased chance of success. The chance of success will be increased if you increase the chance of getting a Double Mint by Shoe-Minting five times.
Failure Rate
The item upgrader allows the player to add an additional slot in their equipment. The slots can be used to upgrade an item or apply an enchantment. It is important to keep in mind that not all items are upgradeable. The rank of an item determines the rate at which it can be upgraded and enchanted. The higher the rank of an item, the more Zeny and items are required to upgrade it.
This kind of system can be expensive, particularly for high-end gear. It could cost as high as 100,000 z and 100 Carnium to upgrade an armor or weapon. As you advance in rank, the success rate decreases. You can increase the chances of upgrading an item upgrading by using cash shop items.
Normal Upgrade is the most basic upgrade that can be done on weapons, armor pieces and bikes. It uses different grades of cores based on the type of item. In general, lower quality items require less expensive cores, whereas higher grade items require more expensive ones.
You must have the correct number of cores to do a normal upgrade. Once you have them then click the button next to the item that you want to upgrade. The upgrade item window will display a percent indicator of your chances of success. This percentage is determined by the upgrade level of the item as well as the core kind you have selected.
You can also opt for a safeguard that will protect your product in the event of a failure. This protection isn't free, but it will cost less than a new item. The protection can be used once per upgrade, and it is not a valid expiry date unless it is used again.
The interface for the item upgrader can be a little difficult, but isn't impossible to navigate. The main menu is displayed on the left, and the upgrade window on the right. The arrows on the left of the UI depict the various stages of the upgrade process. Click the question mark icon to receive help if you are unsure what you're doing. The upgrade can take up five minutes.
