Upgrading gear increases its base stats, and sometimes increases its other features. The worth of these upgrades is determined by their tiers, requirements and the amount of random augmentations applied.

The racial Shield elite Razortail, for example, is frequently upgraded to enhance its lightning absorption capability in PvP and/or provide additional defenses to missile-based build in the PvM. This makes it more tradeable over the original version that is not upgraded.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens permit you to reroll a purchased item, like a weapon, armor or ring. The item is swapped for another of the same type and comes with a different set of extra bonuses. Players can reroll their equipment using three categories that include physical power, magical power, and health. Some items are better off being upgraded less for their increased stats and more for the fact that it allows players to gain the maximum amount of value from a perfect roll on the item. A perfectly rolled 200/6500 armor set piece, for instance is highly coveted by melee PvP communities and could be worth up to 20-50 times the non-upp’d version.

The game will show you the requirements when you select the upgrade component that is incorporated into the item. These include the item type (either Armor or Weapon), the level of the item and the upgrade Token required, and the amount of progress required to complete the upgrade.
