What s Holding Back This Item Upgrade Industry
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item level upgrade by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the Best item upgrader is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrade will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3 the upgrade item system was modified a bit, and some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will cost less, even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
