World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade item track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increases as it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment, players can compare the item level. It's a measure of the damage and its quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its level. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories about how the calculation of the item's level is done. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value and that sockets have gems that increase the item's overall value. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzards actual item level.

This is not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the best." The base stats of a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.

Another way to change the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes are used to give items extra damage or special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll the affixes. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will have at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another aspect that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the early game than in later ones, since most players prefer more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage of any ability that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created with the right ingredients.

item upgrader mod Failure

Item upgrades are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The success of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. All items have a base success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases that chance by 5percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrade upgrader (Suggested Online site) CORE client config.
