Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers love their key fob's convenient remote features. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the car or start the engine and even locate the vehicle.
Place the key fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that opens it, then wedge an object between the fob and the cover and pull it up gently.
Locking the Doors

With a fingernail, remove the cover from the back of the key fob. The button should be underneath the cover on an angle near the edge of the body. Remove it by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will come open and slide off and reveal the manual key blade! If you're still unable to locate the button, you can search the newly revealed manual key access to find if there is a hidden slot or lever.
Closing the Windows
Volvo key fobs have an in-built feature that lets you to instantly roll down all windows. This is a fantastic feature to have when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking space, or just to get fresh air in your cabin while driving.
To unlock the windows simply press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and the sunroof, if your car has one. Then, when you're done with the car, you can close everything by pressing the lock button once more for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm inside your car by using the key fob. It will create an alarm that is loud enough to draw attention and deter thieves. It can also help you to get home safely if you've been out all night. This feature is useful if you reside in a hazardous area or you want to ensure the safety of your family while away from home.
Opening the Tailgate
The key fob of Volvo is loaded with useful features. These are ideal when you're busy shopping for groceries or helping your kids pack their sports gear after practice.
If you own the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) Then you can open it using the key fob. Just press the button to open it, and then press the same button to close it once you're done.

Turning Off the Alarm
Modern key fobs are much more practical than a mechanical car key. They can't always function perfectly and batteries may die. If you're in a hurry, or don't want to visit an establishment to get your key fob reprogrammed, you can attempt to get it to work at home.
Place your keys along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface. Find the small black button in the left-hand corner of the key fob, and move it to the right. The cover should come loose and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade beneath it.
You can unlock all doors as well as the reargate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's key twice. By pressing the lock button for two minutes, you are able to close the sunroof and windows when they're fitted. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owner's manual should include a method to reset the system.
