World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

For example an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with less upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear even if they are unsure how much it will be improved following an update.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it is likely that the item upgrader mod will become obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the risk of failure. Certain upgrades also provide a bonus if reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the Best item upgrade way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.

Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs as well as some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Utilizing the Glyph will boost all nodes that are linked to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is commonly known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level requires a different number of components and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets advanced in level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing upgrade item Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When a player upgrade an item the original item will be replaced with an item that is new. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own bonus. This can be a downside, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can waste lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or exits water. The item can be upgraded many times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely useful in PvP battles, since an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set, while upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can have eight upgrades. Each each time you upgrade an item it is given an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to revert to its initial state, requiring the player to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item upgrade will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items could require different upgrades than normal equipment. For instance, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Players will still have to take each piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade items to equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the cost that are listed above.
