The best robot vacuum can sweep and vacuum your floors without having to be involved. It also leaves clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic automatic vacuum cleaner/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum cleaners uk that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the sole robot hoover and mop vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Finally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning robot mop and vacuum schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums uk vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
