Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to decrease the frequency of hoovering manually. Pick a robot vacuum that has good navigation, has the ability to clean corners and stairs, and that has a large bin that only needs to be cleaned out every now and then.
You can also find models that mop and charge themselves This feature could be essential for those who have pets or children. The top performers in our tests have good obstacles to avoid.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is a great alternative for those who want a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.
Both robots are good at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the most recent features. It is best self cleaning robot vacuum-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households, but it also fits in well next to a coffee table or on shelves where you can wave it around like a magic device.
The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.
This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also offers easy access to 2 attachments as well as a Wand. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are not true, as CR's testing shows. This is an average and not a remarkable time for a battery-powered cordless vac. That's still enough run time to vacuum the majority of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to clean every spot (though an additional run-through often does the trick). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on the latest model of best robot vacuum under 200. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our testing, and it often goes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top robot vacuum cleaner choices, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs and has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a wide range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings, and many more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our testing, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models we've tested, and this could be a deal breaker for certain shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access through the app. You can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you to monitor your children or pets when you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying and helps keep the robot's dustbin clear and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Contrary to other robotic vacuums that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have an extra wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2 times larger than other models. This lets them clean the area for longer. Plus, they include two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also includes AutoSense technology, which can tell the presence of dirt or debris on the surface and then automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that lets users to see a virtual map, control functions, and set schedules. You can also track the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to discern where it is focusing or if it has gotten stuck.
The app also makes it simple to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For instance, my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL, however was able to continue to move across the border, without notifying the edge. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
