The best robot vacuum Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as dirt detectors) are positives.

Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled as well as large debris, and wash them when required. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning robot mop and vacuum. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum that vacuums and mops that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they are.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
