Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for instancefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their equipment even if they are unsure how much it will be improved following a reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it is likely that the item will be obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in their radius as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.

You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes more quickly.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost a particular set of stat nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, which is why it is recommended to place Glyphs in the most important spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example, a Druid should try to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes however, you may also want to be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes as well.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a different item of the same kind. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage since the item may increase in price even if you do not need it.

The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This can be useful however it shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or exits water. Requirements

The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item returning to its original condition which means that the player has to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned, such as chances to be crit damage to attack, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it receives a crit chance boost it will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades for a price of. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. The player will need to take every piece of equipment they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost listed above.
