WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item upgrade level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader Mod upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with a button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item upgrader kit has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.

Many locations offer item upgrader kit upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through several methods which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if those items come from an entirely different set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. They can choose to use Flightstones that are a common upgrade currency that is accessible to everyone players, or crests that are more specific and consumed during upgrades at specific item levels. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance it's Best item upgrader to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
