20 Resources That Will Make You Better At Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with an button, which will display a preview of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item upgrades and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item level upgrade (Click Link) upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item upgrades level will cost less even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an item level upgrade that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
