Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

They can also find them in random treasure lists. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
