World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. This value is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader you choose and the kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a widely used measure of power, and can be seen on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a sign of the damage and its quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.

On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are various theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory says that the level of an item upgrader mod is determined by an equation that determines the value of an item's stats really are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzards actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl because the level of the region the Best item upgrade upgrade [source website] dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods which are then increased by the player's skill.

Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item level upgrade. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or other special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

Presently, all affixes are able to be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with specific stats or reroll the affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the specified range, unless it is an item that is unique or an item that is a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to boost. As with the base equipment, this will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are created by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is particularly useful in early game runs because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. They can also be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it fails.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading the item upgrading, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.

The luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrade Upgrader CORE client config.
